Our history

Our values have deep roots

It was the late 1950s when grandfather Cesare returned to the shores of his beautiful lake.

The return to Lake Garda

The return to Lake Garda

He had travelled extensively and lived for years in Spain and South America, he had known the world, in that great ferment that the post-war period had brought back everywhere. But Cesare loved his land: every now and then he let his thoughts travel as far as the beaches of his beautiful Salò, with its lush gardens and cultivated hills, and dreamed of returning. And so, one day, Cesare returned home. His enthusiasm was strong, he had re-embraced his family and distant friends, and it was not long before Cesare, during a walk on a cool summer morning, met Nucci. It was love at first sight! Nucci had lived a different life from Cesare, but with him he shared a passion for a land that was being discovered by the first tourists as a pleasant destination for a summer holiday.

When Nucci met Cesare he had recently inherited a small plot of land overlooking the lake, cultivated with vines and olive trees, and framed within a silent gulf overlooking the magnificent Rocca di Manerba. So together they decided to open a small campsite on this land, to accommodate the first tourists to discover this enchanting part of the world: they were grandmother Nucci and grandfather Cesare, and in 1958 they opened the Europa campsite.

Access was gained from the lakeside, right where our Lake Premium facilities are today, one would check in at the reception, a small house now used for storage, and the space for tents and caravans for guests stretched along the shore. They soon built a small bar with a kitchen, a pantry where basic necessities could be bought, a terrace where guests could have lunch and a cold drink, and another smaller terrace, where our pizzeria stands today, dedicated to evenings when camp guests enjoyed making friends. In the evenings, Grandma Nucci recounted, she would sometimes look at this group of tourists and it seemed to her that they had known each other forever: to her, her guests seemed like one big family.

1968

1968 was another year of great novelties for the Campeggio Europa, which, following a new change of management, expanded in size by occupying a new area in the San Felice area; this is how a second campsite, named Campeggio Silvella, came into being.

The 1970s

The 1970s

In the years that followed, the management of the camp site passed through various teams, and it was in the early 1970s, when grandfather Cesare met Mr Laerte Piva, that the two began to rethink the space, equipping it with the very first bungalows, on an area extending further inland, where the current reception and swimming pool park would be built. These were years of profound change for the Garda area, when tourism coming mainly from northern European countries definitively crowned it as an ideal location for family holidays.

1976

1976

In 1985, following the merger of the Campeggio Europa in Manerba and the Campeggio Silvella in San Felice, the current Campeggio Europa Silvella was born. More time passed and the tourist activity around the campsite saw the development of many services in the area, enhancing its historical villages and natural resources, and offering visitors every form of comfort. Cesare had in the meantime sadly passed away, bequeathing to his family this small great dream of a lifetime.

1991

1991

It was her daughter Licia who, in 1991, with a little nostalgia for the childhood she had spent at the campsite, decided, with the help of her husband Francesco, to devote herself wholeheartedly to what grandfather Cesare and grandmother Nucci had built up over many years of passion and work: Federico and Andrea had just been born, and a new generation of the family was about to become protagonists in the history of the Europa Silvella campsite. Grandmother Nucci was never absent, and she watched with her eyes full of pride as the structure underwent a new transformation, ever closer to the present day. Thus came the construction of the first swimming pool and sanitary facilities distributed throughout the area, a major renovation of the electrical installations and a new water plant, followed in the following decade by the construction of the second and third swimming pools, the annexed kiosk, and the addition of the first mobile homes.

The Europa Silvella camp site thus became one of the best known and most avant-garde facilities in the entire area, one of the first to perceive and value the entertainment service, dedicated to the fun and socialisation of guests. The clientele, which until then had been loyal and seasonal, also began to change, to make more room for tourists and travellers who left from afar, just as they still do today, to discover the riches of the now famous Garda area.

The 20s

The 20s

It was in the 2000s that what we like to call Europa Silvella's golden generation began to take shape: in this period, in fact, Licia and Francesco were joined by Estefania, now in charge of accounting, Giovanna, who still manages the cleaning team, Danilo, the historical face of reception, Enrico, who meticulously and passionately takes care of maintenance, and finally Sandra, the first smile in the morning to greet guests who wake up and buy hot bread at the mini market. Francesca since then brings her energy to the pool bar, and Selene begins an apprenticeship establishing herself in the position of personnel management manager.

2013

2013

2013 represents another fundamental change for Silvella Europe: Andrea, after years of study and professional experience in large cities such as Milan and abroad, decided to follow in his mother Licia's footsteps, joining the team in the management and operational role of the structure, while Federico joined his father Francesco in the technical supervision of the campsite. All together, the large family that makes up the staff of Europa Silvella, they then began a major renovation of the entire area, which continues today through a constant search for functionality and innovation: from the introduction of mobile homes and latest-generation glamping structures, to the renovation of the facilities, making them safer, improving the spaces dedicated to activities and sports, and reducing the capacity of the campsite to ensure more comfort for all guests.

Present days

Present days

No less important, in recent years Piero, the manager of our restaurant "Al Pontile", Chiara, the enthusiasm that welcomes guests at reception, Marco, the gardener who makes it all bloom, and finally Arturo, the campsite's little four-legged mascot, have joined the staff and thus joined this constantly evolving project. A holiday at Europa Silvella means meeting all of this: one big family that has been working in perfect synergy for years to make its guests' stay perfect and full of warmth, just as in the distant dream of grandmother Nucci and grandfather Cesare so many years ago
